Why is your stuff sooooooo good?

Beyond all the obvious reasons like passion and love, one of the most under appreciated aspects of our farm is its soil. Just like grapes for wine that benefit from the terroir (the earth they are grown in) so does cannabis. In our case we have a unique terrior called: highly weathered alluvium basalt. What does that mean you ask? We've tried to consisely summarize for the curious below but my shirts says its all! Dirt is DEAD; SOIL IS ALIVE!

Growing crops in highly weathered alluvium basalt terroir offers a unique set of benefits that can significantly improve crop quality and yield. Basaltic soil is derived from volcanic rock, and when subjected to weathering, it releases a host of minerals and nutrients that are highly beneficial to plants. Here are some of the unique benefits of growing crops in highly weathered alluvium basalt terroir:

Mineral-rich soil: Basaltic soil is rich in essential minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium. These minerals are critical to plant growth and development, and when present in adequate amounts, can help increase crop yields and improve crop quality.

Better drainage: Basaltic soil has excellent drainage properties, which helps prevent waterlogging and soil erosion. This allows plants to access water and nutrients more efficiently, resulting in healthier plants and higher yields.

Improved soil structure: The porous nature of basaltic soil allows for better soil aeration and improved soil structure. This creates an ideal environment for root development and encourages the growth of beneficial microorganisms that help support plant growth.

Natural pest control: Basaltic soil contains minerals and nutrients that can help repel pests and diseases. This reduces the need for synthetic pesticides and herbicides, making it a more environmentally friendly option for crop production.

Enhanced flavor: Crops grown in highly weathered alluvium basalt terroir have been shown to have a unique flavor profile that is highly sought after by chefs and consumers. The combination of minerals and nutrients in the soil creates a distinct taste that is difficult to replicate in other growing environments.

In conclusion, growing crops in highly weathered alluvium basalt terroir offers a unique set of benefits that can significantly improve crop quality and yield. By providing plants with essential minerals and nutrients, improving soil structure, and reducing the need for synthetic pesticides and herbicides, basaltic soil is an ideal environment for producing high-quality crops with unique flavor profiles.
